History of the Southaven church of Christ

A congregation of the Lord's Church was born in Southaven, Mississippi on June 13, 1965 when several families met for worship in the Tri-State Auction Barn.  Al Frankes and Harold Bowie served as the first pulpit preachers and Robert Hall served as the song leader.

For the next 15 months they continued to meet in this building each Lord's Day and Wednesday evening for worship while suitable facilities were planned and completed.  In early September, 1966, the building at Brookhaven Drive was completed.  The first elected trustees were: G.B. Autry, Lee Winters, Clyde Bowen, W.H. Wooten, and Robert Hall.

In 1974, a two story educational annex was added to the back of the auditorium.

Over the next several years attendance had grown and there was a need for a larger auditorium.  This was completed in 1986, and the old auditorium was converted into classrooms and area for social activities.
