What if you were to go to the local bookstore and tell the sales associate that you are looking for a book that is filled with history, science, wisdom, poetry, can help with marriage, raising children, solving problems, and salvation from sin, just to name a few things. They might compile for us several books. Did you know that there is one book that contains all of this information? The Bible. The Word of God contains for us the most valuable information in the entire world. One of the reasons it is so valuable is because it answers the most important questions man has.
From Where Did We Come? The Bible is a book about origins; it tells us how life began and where we come from. “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). For six days, God would create everything.
Why Are We Here? The wise man, Solomon, answers this question for us. “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man” (Ecclesiastes 12:13). Our purpose for being here is to revere and obey Him.
Where Are We Going? The Bible informs us that our life here on this earth is only temporary, and that we are preparing ourselves for eternity in one of two places. Jesus said, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it” (Matthew 7:13-14).
